Authorities identify woman killed in Elmhurst crash

ELMHURST, Ill. — Authorities have identified a woman who was killed after she was hit by a car in Elmhurst on Friday morning.

According to police, the crash unfolded around 7 a.m. at the intersection of North York Street and West Diversey Avenue.

The DuPage County Coroner later identified the woman as 74-year-old Rosemary Rice, an Elmhurst resident.

Authorities say Rice was walking in the area, but did not provide details on if she was in a crosswalk or on the sidewalk.

The crash shut down York between Diversey and Grand for several hours while Elmhurst police and the DuPage MERIT Major Crash Investigation Unit were on the scene.

Authorities have not provided details on what led to the crash and an investigation is ongoing.
