Two Chicago Men Rob Addison Gas Station, Customer at Gunpoint, Leading Police on High Speed Chase

Chicago men face charges after armed robbery, high-speed pursuit

Two Chicago men, Willie Carter and Anton Stephens, are now incarcerated as they await trial for their involvement in an armed robbery and a subsequent high-speed chase through west suburban Addison. The incident unfolded on a Tuesday night, culminating in the apprehension of the suspects after a dramatic pursuit.

The events commenced around 11:50 p.m. when a vigilant Villa Park police officer identified a vehicle suspected of being linked to a recent armed robbery at a gas station in Villa Park. The vehicle, traveling westbound on I-290, later exited onto Lake Street in Addison and parked at the Speedway gas station on 701 E. Lake Street.

According to prosecutors, Carter and Stephens, both 24 years old, entered the Speedway. While one suspect filled a bag with cigarettes, the other brandished a gun, coercing the female clerk to open the cash register. However, the attempt was thwarted as the register was undergoing a reboot at the time.
