ADDISON, Ill. — Pre-trial release has been denied for two Chicago men accused of robbing a gas station at gunpoint and leading police on a high-speed chase in Addison.
According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, 24-year-old Willie Carter, an Auburn Gresham resident, and 24-year-old Anton Stephens, a North Lawndale resident, have been charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Stephens is facing one additional count of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer.
Berlin said the charges stem from an alleged armed robbery and high-speed police chase that started at a Speedway gas station in the 700 block of East Lake Street just before midnight on Tuesday.
