CHICAGO — A student at Northwestern Law School says her two cousins from Lombard have been kidnapped by Israeli soldiers.
Yasmeen Elagha told WGN News she got a call from her aunt in Gaza saying Israeli soldiers kidnapped four members of her family, two of which are American citizens during an early morning raid Thursday.
“The first thing that my aunt told me when she called me yesterday was to tell the Americans to help us save my sons,” Elagha said.
Brothers, 18-year-old Borak Elagha and 20-year-old Hashem, along with their Canadian father and a mentally disabled uncle were all kidnapped, the Elagha says.
The two brothers grew up in suburban Lombard and moved to Gaza several years ago — they have been trying to get out of Gaza and return to the U.S. since the beginning of the Israel’s attack on Gaza after Oct. 7.
Yasmeen says her family contacted the state department which tried to secure their exit from Gaza, but she says Israeli officials control who leaves and that they have not been able to get out.
