Jerry Reinsdorf says his favorite Bulls team was the 1993-94 squad: “We would’ve gone to the finals if not for a horrible call in New York”

The Chicago Bulls won six NBA championships from 1991 to 1998. Because those are the only banners in franchise history, there’s no question that those six teams were the best ever in the organization’s history.

However, if you ask team owner Jerry Reinsdorf , his favorite team isn’t one of those six title teams. During an interview with nba.com in 2014, Reinsdorf revealed that the 1993-94 Chicago Bulls was closest to his heart.

“To this day, that was my favorite team,” admitted Reindsdorf. “We would have gone to the Finals if it weren’t for a horrible call in New York. Scottie was clearly the leader of that team. He stepped up and he was the man.”

Reinsdorf’s favorite team didn’t have MJ

Interestingly, Reinsdorf’s favorite team was one without Michael Jordan , who is, without a doubt, the best player the Bulls ever had and probably ever have. Jordan retired in 1993 to pursue a career in professional baseball. With MJ out, it was Scottie Pippen who led the team, and he did so admirably.
