CHICAGO — Residents on the North Side of Chicago are calling out Mayor Brandon Johnson after they say Chicago leaders are not being open when it comes to a temporary migrant shelter in Edgewater.
The temporary shelter is at Broadway Armory Park where most of the community programs held by the park districts were moved to other neighborhood facilities to make room for the migrants.

“You could ask anybody in this neighborhood, do they know what’s going on? No,” neighbor Ed Nelson said.
Lifelong Edgewater resident Hussian Mohammed and other members of the Broadway Armory Park Council are eager to meet with the Chicago Park District to see what programs and classes can be restored.
Mohammad said they are looking to see what programs and classes can benefit both asylum seekers and residents.
48th Ward Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth is working with her residents and others to come up with a plan.
No one from the mayor’s office responded to the complains about the lack of transparency.
