Fatal Shooting Claims Life of 39-Year-Old Man on Chicago’s South Side

Kenwood victim pronounced dead after suffering gunshot wound to head

Tragedy struck on the streets of Chicago’s South Side as a 39-year-old man lost his life after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Responding to reports of gunfire, police officers discovered Jermaine W. Harris, aged 39, lying on the ground in the 1100 block of East 47th Street. Harris, a resident of the same block, was found critically injured and swiftly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to save his life, Harris succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:23 a.m., as confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

As the investigation into the incident continues, no suspects have been apprehended. Area One detectives are working to uncover the circumstances related to Harris’s tragic death.
