PHOTOS: Brookfield Zoo animals celebrate Valentine’s Day

BROOKFIELD, Ill. — The animals at Brookfield Zoo are feeling the love this Valentine’s Day.

In celebration of the Feb. 14 holiday, several animals at the zoo received heart-shaped enrichment treats and other tokens from their care staff.

The zoo says staff members are constantly thinking of way to physically and mentally stimulate the animals.

According to a release, the zoo’s grey seals and bottlenose dolphins received ice and gelatin treats. An Amur leopard, named Sasha, was given raw meat in the shape of hearts. Jasper, a pink cockatoo, was gifted heart-shape paper cutouts and sliced strawberries.
