CPD: Box containing human remains reportedly found on the sidewalk on Near West Side

CHICAGO — Authorities in Chicago are investigating after a witness told police that they found a box containing human remains on a sidewalk on the city’s Near West Side.

According to Chicago police, the box was found in the 2600 block of West Taylor Street in the city’s Tri-Taylor neighborhood.

Officers said a witness called police just before 6 p.m. and told officers that they had found a box containing an unknown victim’s remains.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the victim’s death and an investigation is underway.
