Fresh Market to replace Dom’s Kitchen in Lincoln Park by Halloween

North Carolina-based chain The Fresh Market will open its first Chicago store on Oct. 30 in the old Dom’s Kitchen at Halsted and Diversey that closed abruptly last April.

Why it matters: Dom’s Kitchen had become a go-to for shoppers looking for gourmet grocery items, locally sourced products and a glass of wine or dinner while they shopped.

  • The new store represents part of the rebuilding effort in the wake of the mass Foxtrot closures it was a part of.

Zoom in: A Fresh Market employee tells Axios the store will carry a lot of the same fresh produce and gourmet foods sold at its other Illinois locations in Wilmette, Geneva and Naperville.

  • It will keep Dom’s in-store dining area and two outdoor patios, including one that’s pet-friendly.

What’s next: Signs outside the store encourage patrons to sign up now for a loyalty program that gives first-time members coupons for $15 off their first $100 spend and a free slice of cake on their birthday.
