CHICAGO (CBS) — Two students were hit by a school bus, and one was seriously injured on Friday afternoon outside Bartlett High School in the western suburbs.
Police said during after-school dismissal around 3:20 p.m., two students were running along a school bus that was pulling into the bus lane at Bartlett High School, 701 W. Schick Rd., when both of them fell and were hit by the bus.
A male student and a female student both were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Police said the female student suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
The male student suffered non-life-threatening injuries and taken to Ascension Saint Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. The male student had a fractured forearm, according to a Bartlett fire official.
Brianna Burg, a junior at the high school, said she was leaving practice when she saw the scene.
