A convicted felon is charged in the killing of a Chicago police officer this week. Darion McMillian of Bolingbrook faces murder and attempted murder charges. Officer Enrique Martinez was shot and killed during a traffic stop Monday night in the eight-thousand block of South Ingleside Avenue. CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling said McMillian used a handgun that was equipped with an extended magazine and was modified to fire automatically. A Will County judge ordered McMillian on electronic monitoring last month in a pending drug case. He previously pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm in May 2021.
