Illinois felon had nearly 400 firearms, 10,000 rounds of ammo

SPRING GROVE, Ill. (WGN) — A previously convicted felon from the far northwest suburbs of Chicago was indicted on nearly a dozen different weapons charges Thursday following a police investigation in unincorporated Sugar Grove.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), 66-year-old Jerome N. Ruckdeschel was charged with 11 felony weapon counts:

  • Four counts of possession of firearms while possessing body armor by a felon (Class X)
  • One count of possession of firearm ammunition while possessing body armor by a felon (Class X)
  • One count of possession of a machine gun by a felon (Class X)
  • Three counts of possession of firearms by a felon (Class 3)
  • One count of possession of ammunition by a felon (Class 3)
  • One count of unlawful use of weapons for possessing a silencer (Class 3)

MCSO officials said deputies received information regarding a suspect who was unlawfully in possession of firearms in the 9900 block of North Clark Road back on Oct. 15.
