BROOKFIELD, Ill. — Brookfield Zoo Chicago is welcoming its newest residents, and while guests may not be able to see a few of them, there is one that is already getting used to its new home.
The zoo announced Friday that it has welcomed a juvenile California Two Spot-Octopus, also called a “bimac,” as well as four bimac hatchlings.

The bimac’s new habitat will be located in the Living Coast exhibit where it will live among the starfish.
According to Zoo officials, the hatchlings had to be transported in test tubes due to their size.
Guests won’t get the chance to view the babies just yet, but officials said they are hoping to grow the population.
Officials shared photos of the young bimac as it reached out of its hiding spot in its new home.
What is a California two-spot octopus?
California Two Spot-Octopuses prefer warm waters and are native to the Pacific Coast.
The soft-bodied mollusks are smaller than most species and have the ability to change their skin color and texture as camouflage.
