After Chicago’s Warmest Year On Record, New Year Brings Extended Cold Stretch

CHICAGO – Runners enjoying a balmy Chicago winter so far may have to hit the treadmill instead as the weather runs much colder to kick off the new year. A warmer stretch that brought daytime high temperatures sneaking into the 40 degrees has run its course and the city will now bear temperatures in the 20s, said Brett Borchardt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
