‘Sausage Queen of Chicago’ sets up shop in Lansing

“We needed a town that was going to be OK with the hustle and bustle of sausage life”

LANSING, Ill. (March 7, 2025) – After starting more than 100 years ago in Lublin, Poland, an old world sausage company is making its way to Lansing, Illinois.

On February 27, Makowski’s Real Sausage Company hosted a construction buildout ceremony at its newly acquired property at 16700-16710 Chicago Avenue, in Lansing’s industrial corridor. The company will completely rehab the 26,800-square-foot facility to accommodate its sausage making and packaging operation, with one building set for offices and the other for the company’s manufacturing facility.

Nicole Makowski, the business’ fourth-generation owner, said Lansing feels like the perfect fit for its new location. She spoke to a group of about 40 vendors and Lansing officials during the ceremony…
