Dozens in Illinois are now looking for employment after the plant they worked at closed abruptly. There’s a new notice to the state of Illinois informing authorities of this closure and resulting layoffs.
The newest WARN notice on the Illinois Work Net website comes from Animal Supply Company located at 1315 Brewster Creek Boulevard in Bartlett, Illinois. The just-shared WARN notice says employees were notified in early February of an imminent plant closure and possible sale to another company. 59 employees were informed they would lose their jobs.
I was able to confirm this Illinois plant closure and layoff from two different sources. Pets Plus Mag says that employees were notified via email that Animal Supply Company may be sold to Pet Foods Experts, but that the agreement was not final and employees would be let go. The notice did leave open the possibility that the new company may make jobs available to existing employees if the sale was completed, but nothing was certain.
The other source was a lawyer website which said that a class action lawsuit was being explored to determine if Animal Supply Company provided the required 60 days notice or not. There’s no indication if a lawsuit on behalf of workers will proceed or not…
