Will County, IL: Area Police Alert Residents to Traffic Citation Scam Circulating Online

Manhattan, IL – Residents are being warned about a new scam involving fraudulent traffic violation notices sent via email. The Village of Manhattan Police Department issued an alert after a local official received a fake citation demanding payment.

According to police, the scam email falsely claims the recipient has been cited for speeding and must pay within 72 hours through an online payment system called “EasyPay Center.” The email also includes a link to dispute the citation via a “SecureMail” system, both of which are fraudulent.
