Springfield, IL – Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to impact central Illinois on Thursday, bringing the risk of large hail and damaging winds throughout the evening and into the night.
According to the National Weather Service Central Illinois, the storms may develop during the day Thursday, March 27, with the most severe activity expected through Thursday night. Gusts could reach up to 60 mph, and hail may grow as large as quarters. Counties including Sangamon, Macon, McLean, and Peoria are within the elevated risk zone.
