James Knights Park in Sandwich is once again home to Company H of the 10th Illinois Infantry.
Commander Bob Winter says the annual encampment portrays life during the Civil War.
“This is the mustering date of company H of the tenth Illinois infantry which actually left here in Sandwich Illinois on April 23, 1861. But April 20, 21 and 22 they were out here drilling learning how to march with Captain Carr, who was a Mexican War veteran. He was teaching them how to be soldiers and that’s what we’re recreating”…
