The Aurora City Council at a meeting Tuesday approved a $75,000 loan to help a new soul food restauran t, called The Soul Spot, open at Fox Valley Mall.
The restaurant is set to have the same chefs and owner as Mandy’s Soul Food Kitchen, which used to be in Bolingbrook but is now closed, according to a city of Aurora Facebook post. The Soul Spot will also feature the same menu as Delicia Bowling’s former restaurant with food like crispy Southern fried chicken, smothered pork chops, baked mac and cheese, buttery cornbread, savory collard greens, sweet potato pie and more, the post said.
In February, Aurora announced Bowling’s new restaurant would be coming to the Fox Valley Mall after she signed a contract for the space formerly occupied by Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, which closed in 2017…
