Aurora, IL – Firefighters Rescue Resident from Structure Fire in Aurora Home

Aurora, IL – A resident was rescued and safely evacuated after a fire broke out at a two-story home in Aurora, Illinois, Sunday morning, April 27th, 2025.

According to the Aurora Fire Department, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a total of 22 personnel—including four engine companies, two truck companies, two medic units, and two chief officers—responded to the scene of the fire in the 1100 block of Garfield Avenue. Crews were initially met with smoke pouring from the second floor, and quickly located the resident, who had escaped through a window onto the roof. It was unclear at the time whether others were still inside.

Firefighters immediately began a coordinated search while simultaneously working to contain the fire, which was located on the first floor. The blaze was extinguished in under 10 minutes, and further searches confirmed there were no other occupants inside…
