Naperville, Plainfield, Mokena Breweries Take Home Medals from the “Olympics of Beer”

The Illinois contingent performed well at this year’s World Beer Cup, regarded as the Olympics of beer! Breweries from around the state (mostly Chicagoland) won a combined eight medals from this year’s competition held in Indianapolis.

No stranger to the winners podium, Werk Force Brewing out of Plainfield earned a bronze medal in one of the most prestigious categories in the entire contest: American Light Lager. This is the category your Miller Lites and Bud Lights would be in. With 134 entries in this year’s competition, it’s the third most competitive beer category this year [behind the German-Style Pilsener category (186 entries), and the Munich-Style Helles category (145 entries)],

One of the very best of that style, though, now lives in Plainfield with Werk Force’s “Really Decent” light lager, a clean, crisp, 3.9% ABV brew that sounds just perfect after mowing the lawn or sitting by the campfire…
