Teen Charged With Reckless Homicide After Crash

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Bloomingdale Director of Public Safety Frank Giammarese announced that a Hanover Park teen has been charged with Reckless Homicide for allegedly crashing his vehicle into another, causing the death of the female driver of the other vehicle. 18-year old Adrian Pleban of the 7400 block of Northway Drive, appeared in First Appearance Court is charged with two counts of Reckless Homicide (Class 3 Felony) and two counts of Aggravated Reckless Driving Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 4 Felony). On June 20, 2025, Judge Anthony Coco issued an arrest warrant for Pleban. Pleban turned himself in to authorities on June 25, 2025, and was released following his court appearance. As a condition of his release, Pleban is prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.

It is alleged that on November 1, 2024, at approximately 10:36 p.m., Pleban was driving a 2013 BMW 328I southbound on Gary Avenue approaching Camden Drive at more than 35 mph over the posted speed limit of 45 mph. It is alleged that Pleban failed to reduce speed and failed to keep a proper lookout and crashed his vehicle into a 2022 Ford Bronco, causing the driver of the vehicle to sustain injuries that lead to her death. It is further alleged that the crash caused traumatic injuries, including multiple fractures and contusions, to the passenger of the vehicle.

“First and foremost, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim in this very sad case,” Berlin said. “I can’t begin to imagine the pain and suffering they have endured resulting from this senseless tragedy. With the Fourth of July holiday one week away, I urge everyone to please drive responsibly and obey the rules of the road, especially the posted speed limit. I thank the Bloomingdale Police Department and the MERIT Crash Reconstruction Team for their extremely thorough investigation into this tragic incident.
