McCook targets reckless drivers with $10,000 impound fee

McCook Mayor Terrance Carr has a warning for drivers who shut down intersections and tear up village roads: stay out or pay up.

Carr is proposing a $10,000 fine for drivers caught taking over intersections and having their vehicles impounded. That’s five times the current $2,000 fee to reclaim a seized vehicle.

“You want to come here and (mess) around, you’re going to get (messed) around, whether you like it or not,” Carr said after the July 7 village board meeting…
