Illinois Man’s E-Bike Confiscated By Police For Breaking Law

I’m not sure about all the laws in Illinois when it comes to E-Bikes, but this rider definitely broke one because his transportation could be taken away by the state.

I’m not sure how long of a trend it’s been, but each summer I see more and more driving all over town. I’m talking about E-Bikes. I see people riding them on the way to work in the morning and all day long. I catch them on the road, sidewalks, and even bike paths around Rockford.

I also don’t know a lot about the laws for E-Bikes and the riders either, but I’m guessing that there are many rules broken when people are taking them around town. It seems like they should be treated more like motorcycles, but I see more residents riding them more like a bike, which can’t be too safe.

A man in Joliet was riding his E-Bike on a path in a Will County Forest Preserve when he got stopped by the police. Apparently, he was going pretty darn fast and caught the officers’ attention. The suspect didn’t have a valid driver’s license, so he was ticketed and his E-Bike was taken away. He can lose it forever.
