CHICAGO (WTVO) — A government building in Downtown Chicago has been renamed to honor one of Illinois’ longest-standing officials, Jesse White.
The building that is located at 115 South LaSalle Street has been renamed the Jesse White State of Illinois Building to honor his efforts as a public servant to the state.
White is best known as Illinois’ longest-serving Secretary of State, a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for 16 years, the Cook County recorder of deeds for 6 years, and a school teacher.
The 91-year-old said, ” It’s an honor beyond description. Never in my life did I think there would be a building in downtown Chicago named after yours truly.”…
