UPTOWN — Medicare patients won’t be accepted at Weiss Memorial Hospital beginning next month after an investigation from the Illinois Department of Public Health, a move that could further overburden nearby hospitals as Weiss’ problems persist.
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a public notice last week that said Weiss wasn’t in compliance with three Medicare conditions: nursing services, physical environment and emergency services.
