Bloomingdale, IL – A 14-year-old boy from Bloomingdale is facing felony charges after allegedly leading officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle late Monday night.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the incident unfolded around 11:16 p.m. when Bloomingdale police located a 2015 Hyundai Elantra reported stolen. The car was allegedly being driven by the juvenile northbound on Glen Ellyn Road near Edgewater Drive. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver allegedly accelerated eastbound on Lake Street, reaching speeds above 80 mph.
The vehicle reportedly drove through a red light, continued southbound on Rohwling Road, and returned to Army Trail Road, where officers deployed spike strips. Authorities say the car crashed after hitting the strips and attempting to turn onto Walter Street.
