Motorcyclist, child both suffer life-threatening injuries after motorcycle collides with Corvette in Joliet, police say

JOLIET, Ill. — A motorcyclist and a child were both flown to hospitals with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle and Corvette collided Sunday afternoon in southwest suburban Joliet, according to police.

The Joliet Police Department says officers responded to the crash around 12:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Cass Street and determined that the Corvette was going west on Cass St. when it attempted to turn left into a gas station and was hit on its passenger side by a motorcycle going east.

The motorcyclist, a 42-year-old Joliet man, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries, according to police. He was first taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and later flown to Loyola Hospital for advanced treatment.

A child who was a passenger in the Corvette also suffered life-threatening injuries, police say, and was taken to Silver Cross Hospital before being airlifted to Lurie Children’s Hospital for further care…
