Major home goods retailer plans closure of 3 Chicago-area stores

At Home, a nationwide home furniture and décor retailer, plans to shutter 29 stores by the end of the month, including two in the Chicago suburbs.

The Texas-based retailer announced in June it was entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as part of a restructuring agreement to eliminate $2 billion in debt and infuse $200 million to support operations moving forward.

At the time, CEO Brad Weston said in a statement that the company struggled to operate “against the backdrop of an increasingly dynamic and rapidly evolving trade environment as we navigate the impact of tariffs.”…
