Andrew Planeta (47, Joliet) was charged and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Armed Habitual Criminal (Class X Felony), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (two counts), Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Firearms and Firearms Ammunition, Use of a Stolen Firearm in the Commission of an Offense, No FOID, Aggravated DUI (four counts), and DUI.
On September 16, 2025, at 9:01 p.m., Officers responded to the 100 block of Margaret Street for a report of a male firing a handgun from a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers located a spent shell casing in the street.
During a canvass of the area, Officers learned that residents heard a single gunshot and observed a male driving from the scene in a vehicle while yelling toward a nearby residence.
