Plainfield police arrested a Romeoville man Thursday who is suspected of shooting a 17-year-old near downtown Plainfield in July. 18-year-old Joseph De Dios was taken into custody without incident at approximately 3:11 p.m. at the Jack in the Box on Route 59 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 5, the Plainfield Police Department and Fire Protection District were dispatched to Settlers Park on West Lockport Street at around 10:44 p.m. for a report of shots fired. A 17-year-old was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was conscious when first responders arrived on scene and was taken to an Aurora hospital for further treatment.
Investigators identified De Dios as a suspect after a nearly three-month investigation into the shooting and obtained an arrest warrant. De Dios was taken to the Plainfield Police Department for processing and was later transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
