NEW LENOX, Ill. — A year after a massive fire raged through Tri-Star Cabinet and Top Co. in New Lenox, Illinois, the company has finally decided that the once-promised rebuild was, in the long run, too expensive and that there were too many complications to rebuild, and so the owner has decided to permanently shutter the company.
The 59-year-old company, which is located in a south suburb about an hour from Chicago, was destroyed in a three-alarm blaze on Oct. 17, 2024. Earlier this month, a year almost to the day of the 2024 fire, company owner Joe Wilda Jr. and the other members of the Wilda family decided to permanently close the second-generation company.
The cause of the fire was not available as of press time…
