Naperville, IL — A 30-year-old Naperville man, identified as Ahmad Dinah, has been denied pretrial release after authorities say he received a package containing a massive amount of fentanyl—enough to potentially kill entire cities, according to DuPage County officials.
Package Contained 1,000 Fentanyl-Laced Pills
Earlier this week, investigators allege that Dinah received a package through the U.S. Postal Service that contained approximately 1,000 tablets laced with fentanyl. The parcel had been flagged by postal inspectors and was later delivered under surveillance as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Once Dinah accepted the package, authorities moved in and conducted a search of his apartment, where they reportedly found the pills and additional evidence of narcotics activity. Officials said the seized amount was large enough to endanger countless lives if distributed.
Charges Filed Against Ahmad Dinah
Following his arrest, Ahmad Dinah was charged with multiple serious offenses, including:
- Controlled substance trafficking
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver
- Possession of a controlled substance
Each charge carries severe penalties under Illinois law, particularly given the deadly nature of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid considered 50 times stronger than heroin.
Court Appearance and Upcoming Hearing
Dinah appeared in DuPage County Court on Friday, where a judge denied his request for pretrial release, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the potential public danger.
He is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on November 21.
