Violence Erupts as DHS Raids Target Chicago

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has conducted major immigration enforcement operations during Operation Midway Blitz in the Chicago area, resulting in numerous arrests. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and local leaders have criticized the actions, claiming agents have intimidated residents and strained community relations. DHS noted that multiple cases of violence against agents have been referred for further investigation or prosecution.

DHS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have reported multiple incidents during a single day of operations, including noncitizens taken into ICE custody for allegedly ignoring commands.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “While conducting immigration enforcement operations in Cicero and Glendale Heights, agitators stalked law enforcement, rammed vehicles, fled scenes, injured agents, and caused multiple accidents across town — putting law enforcement and the public in danger.”…
