Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison For Shooting 16-year-old Near The Mag Mile

A man was sentenced to eight years in prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to attempted murder in the shooting of a 16-year-old boy near the Magnificent Mile last year.

According to prosecutors, Jasean Butler, 20, fired several bullets at the teen around 4:45 p.m. on August 2, 2024, at the corner of Wabash Avenue and Chicago Avenue. Bullets injured the youngster in the shoulder, as well as a 24-year-old man standing close.

According to court records, a Chicago police surveillance camera and security cameras at a nearby Chick-fil-A both captured footage of the incident.
