Judge criticized for releasing suspect with dozens of arrests prior to CTA fire attack

COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WGN) – A Cook County judge is facing criticism in the case of a suspect accused of lighting a woman on fire while aboard a CTA Blue Line train Monday on night.

Lawrence Reed, 50, was federally charged with terrorism against a mass transportation system on Wednesday in connection with the Monday night attack that left a 26-year-old woman in critical condition.

Reed has a lengthy criminal history and back in August during a petition to detain hearing on an unrelated case, the judge ordered Reed released on an ankle monitor despite warnings from prosecutors that he was a threat to the public…
