BROOKFIELD, Ill. (WGN) — Thanksgiving arrived early at Brookfield Zoo, and the animals wasted no time diving in.
Carnivorous leopards tore into an assortment of fresh meat, while the four-month-old Amur leopard cubs bounced between playtime and mealtime with their mother.
Across the zoo, the goats had their own holiday buffet. They devoured an entire table piled with their favorite greens, from kale and corn to broccoli, leaves and celery.
Zoo keepers say the annual Thanksgiving feast is more than fun to watch. It gives the animals important nutrition along with mental and physical stimulation that helps keep them healthy…
