Judge grants pre-trial detention of Chicago man arrested for alleged possession of firearm outside Naperville bowling alley

A DuPage County judge granted the state’s motion for the pre-trial detention of a Chicago man who was arrested outside of a Naperville bowling alley on November 28, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and Naperville Police Department. 35-year-old Asante Glover made an initial court appearance Monday morning and faces multiple charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Prosecutors say Naperville police were on a routine patrol outside of Lucky Strike Naperville on Aurora Avenue at around 9:06 p.m. and allegedly observed in plain view a silver-colored firearm underneath the driver’s seat of a Mercedes SUV in the parking lot.

At around 11:35 p.m., an individual, later identified as Glover, entered the vehicle and was approached by officers. Officers allege that upon Glover exiting the vehicle, a Glock 45 handgun was located under the driver’s seat. Glover, who has a prior felony conviction, was then taken into custody…
