Davenport man arrested; found with car stolen out of Oak Lawn

A Davenport man is in the Scott County Jail after police said he was seen driving a stolen vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, the defendant, identified as Devon Davis, 32, was seen driving a car that was confirmed stolen in NCIC out of Oak Lawn, Ill. When Davis saw marked patrol cars, he tried to evade law enforcement by quickly pulling behind a closed business. Davis parked the car and tried to walk away before being apprehended by law enforcement.

Davis allegedly had a strong odor of marijuana coming from his person and officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. The search revealed a plastic cup in the cup holder with several burnt marijuana blunt ends, as well as a THC vape. The car’s estimated value is over $10,000…
