Rapper ‘Cloutboii Meechie’ charged with shooting motorist in the face

A Chicago rapper who performs as “Cloutboii Meechie” has been charged with trying to murder a man who was shot while driving on the West Side, officials said.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, arrived at Humboldt Park Health Center with a gunshot wound to his face around 10:20 p.m. on October 22. He told Chicago cops he was waiting for a light to change in the 5200 block of West Chicago Avenue when someone shot him.

Investigators pulled video from a nearby liquor store that showed what prosecutors described as a “brief verbal altercation” between the victim and another man in the parking lot. As the victim pulled away in his Nissan Rogue, the other man pulled out a gun and fired several shots toward the victim and other vehicles in the area.

About a week after the shooting, investigators learned that the suspected gunman went by the nickname Clout and used an Instagram account under the name cloutboiimeechie, a detention filing said. Prosecutors wrote that CPD intelligence personnel recognized the account as belonging to Demetrius Lewis, and additional officers identified Lewis in surveillance images of the gunman.
