HILLSIDE, Ill. (WGN) – A pedestrian was killed and two officers were injured by a car Wednesday afternoon in Hillside.
Hillside officials said a car driven by a 73-year-old driver hit a police vehicle at around noon near the intersection of Laverne Avenue and Butterfield Road. The car continued into the parking lot of a nearby Walgreens located at the intersection of Butterfield Road and Wolf Road where it hit several vehicles and the pedestrian, identified as a 78-year-old man.

Multiple injuries have been reported and the pedestrian struck by the car has died. Two police officers inside the police vehicle that was struck were taken to Loyola Hospital in serious condition. The driver of the car that hit the police vehicle before driving into the Walgreens parking lot was also taken to Loyola Hospital for treatment and investigators are at the hospital, according to officials.
“We suspect [the driver] had some type of a medical issue or a medical emergency that occurred to him, because like I said, we have video of him crashing through multiple cars and his vehicle doesn’t stop until it comes to rest against another vehicle in the parking lot of the Walgreens,” Hillside Police Chief Dan Murphy said…
