Man indicted on charges of setting woman on fire aboard CTA Blue Line train, attempting to set fire to City Hall

CHICAGO (WGN) – A grand jury has indicted a man on charges related to an incident where he allegedly set a young woman on fire while aboard a CTA Blue Line train, and another incident where he reportedly set a fire outside City Hall.

According to an indictment returned Wednesday, a federal grand jury indicted 50-year-old Lawrence Reed in the Nov. 17 attack on a CTA Blue Line train, where Reed reportedly set a 26-year-old woman on fire, leaving the victim – identified as Bethany MaGee – in critical condition.

Reed was charged with committing a terrorist attack or other violence on a mass transportation system.
