A Brinks armored car guard was shot and robbed of his firearm outside a Chase Bank on the Southwest Side on Tuesday morning, and Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward as investigators search for the gunman.
Chicago police said the 49-year-old courier was outside the Chase Bank at 4363 South Archer Avenue when a man approached him, produced a firearm, and fired multiple shots just before 10 a.m. The victim was struck twice, once in each thigh, and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
