Downers Grove Sub Shop Heist Turns Into 2 A.m. Highway Chase, Four Nabbed

A 2 a.m. break-in at a Mr. Submarine sandwich shop in Downers Grove turned into a two-car highway chase early Monday, ending with four people in custody and two more still on the run as morning approached, according to police.

Officers said they saw multiple people commit a burglary at the Mr. Submarine on Ogden Avenue at about 2 a.m., according to CBS Chicago. Two vehicles sped away from the scene and led officers toward Interstate 355.

The specific shop hit in the overnight break-in was the Mr. Submarine at 1322 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove police told Patch. What started as a smash-and-grab quickly became a multi-agency search stretching into the next day.
