A man with a long history of randomly attacking people in the Loop has pleaded guilty to viciously, randomly attacking a man with a pipe in the heart of downtown, but despite that history, the resolution of the case will not require him to spend any time in prison.
Around 9:45 a.m. on December 8, 2022, a 53-year-old man was walking in the 100 block of West Madison Street when Piere Thorne attacked him from behind with a metal object, according to prosecutors.
Court records state that Thorne, 32, grabbed the object, possibly a metal pipe, from the ground, walked behind the victim, whom he did not know, and struck him in the back of the head.
