Man, 95, killed in crash while checking engine after vehicle stalls in roadway

A 95-year-old man was killed while looking underneath his vehicle after it stalled in the middle of a northwest suburban road when he and his car were crashed into by another driver, authorities said.

Around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 95-year-old man from Palatine was driving westbound on Lake Cook Road just east of Quentin Road in Deer Park when his vehicle broke down and became disabled in the center lane, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.
