Amazon planning to open store in Chicago suburbs

A new store is slated for the Chicago suburbs: Amazon is expected to come to the Chicagoland area, according to local planning documents, and will bring customers a chance to shop from the company in person.

The Village of Orland Park, located about 30 miles from downtown Chicago, posted on its Facebook earlier this month that the tech giant would bring a brick-and-mortar store to the area. “This first of its kind retail store by Amazon will offer a range of products from groceries to general merchandise and will not be an Amazon warehouse or distribution center,” the post stated.

Amazon confirmed in an email statement to USA TODAY that the new store is coming, and the retail location aims to make it convenient for customers to shop a range of items, including groceries, household essentials and more…
