JOLIET, Ill. (WGN) — A man is in police custody after a woman and a young child were found dead following a homicide that happened on Joliet’s East Side, according to the Joliet Police Department (JPD).
JPD said a 29-year-old man is under police guard at a local hospital after officers found a 36-year-old woman and her 4-year-old child unresponsive with gunshot wounds in the backyard of a residence in the 700 block of Garnsey Avenue Sunday morning.
The 36-year-old woman and the 4-year-old child were pronounced dead on scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office (WCCO). Identification of the victims, and the manner of their death have yet to be determined by the WCCO…
